John Bolton says Trump indictment could serve as ‘rocket fuel’ for 2024 campaign
Former National Security Adviser, John Bolton, believes the indictment of former President Donald Trump by a Manhattan grand jury has the potential to serve as “rocket fuel” for his 2024 Presidential Campaign. Bolton expressed that if the charges are dropped or Trump is acquitted, it will give him a significant advantage for his campaign. However, if the former president is ultimately convicted, it would not be viewed favorably by the voters as stated by Bolton during his appearance on CBS News’s Face the Nation.
Bolton also emphasized that Republicans should not choose Trump as their 2024 Presidential nominee due to his indictment, even if they express concern for his legal predicament. While Bolton is considering a potential run for President, he has not been encouraged by the response to Trump’s indictment by the GOP.
Although Bolton believes that Trump is a cancer to the Republican Party, he also admits that the party needs his supporters. Bolton argued that a Ronald Reagan approach to foreign policy would be more popular than Trump’s “isolationist” style of foreign policy.
Trump is the first former President to be criminally indicted and is due to be arraigned on Tuesday. He maintains his innocence and has scheduled a speech to be delivered after his arraignment.
