Jordan Issues New Subpoena to Mayorkas for ICE Documentation

A New Demand for ICE ‌Records: Jim Jordan Targets Mayorkas

In ⁣an escalating ⁢push ⁤for transparency, House ⁣Judiciary Committee Chairman ⁣Jim Jordan ⁤(R-OH)⁣ issued a fresh subpoena‌ to Homeland⁣ Security Secretary Alejandro ‌Mayorkas, this⁢ round focusing on Immigration ‍and Customs Enforcement (ICE) data.

This marks at least the third time⁢ Jordan has compelled Mayorkas to produce records in recent ‌months, previously requesting details on “violent” illegal immigrants in Trump in Michigan County -- Shut Down for TWO HOURS in Red Counties in Georgia on Election Day" href="https://judiciary.house.gov/media/press-releases/February. Additionally, ‌Jordan has pursued details on an illegal immigrant⁤ accused of a Georgia nursing student’s‍ murder.

Unveiling the ⁤Oversight Efforts

In his ‌subpoena, Jordan disclosed⁤ the hurdles faced during oversight. “During our⁤ ICE‍ official interviews, they were⁤ unable to answer questions about the Biden Administration’s immigration policies,” Jordan stressed ‌in his cover ‍letter.

Jordan elaborated on the DHS’s tepid response to the ⁣November 2, 2023, request⁢ for the elusive ICE information, highlighting‍ the department’s ⁤failure to fully comply with the Committee’s⁤ demands.

Repeated Attempts to Garner Cooperation

Committee staff made several attempts to verify the‌ status of their requests after DHS ⁢failed to meet‌ the initial deadline. Responses from DHS‍ were ‍lackluster, offering only‌ partial answers or redirecting to publicly available information that did not suffice, informs the Chairman.

“Your failure‌ to produce the requested ‍documents is obstructing the Committee’s ability to conduct constitutional oversight,” Jordan pointedly wrote.

He emphasized the Committee’s⁣ authority over federal immigration law and hinted that the ⁢sought-after information might prompt legislative ‌changes, potentially affecting‍ Detention Alternatives, enhancing penalties for ICE fugitives, and improving the tracking and detainment of⁤ individuals on the terrorist watchlist.

As the oversight‍ saga⁤ unfolds, The ‌Daily Wire ‍awaits DHS’s stance on this latest subpoena.

Meanwhile, House⁣ Republicans, dissatisfied with Mayorkas’s ‍handling of border ⁢issues, voted in February ‍to impeach him. Despite the impeachment, a⁤ Senate trial remains ‍ pending.
