Jorge Masvidal reminds Latino voters Harris has ‘done nothing for Puerto Rico’ – Washington Examiner

UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her efforts to appeal to Latino voters, stating that her record shows she has “done nothing” for Puerto Rico, particularly ⁣in the ‍aftermath of hurricanes. Masvidal made these comments during an⁣ appearance⁤ on Fox News’s *The Ingraham Angle*, referencing a recent rally where former President Donald Trump was criticized for a joke about Puerto Rico. He⁤ argued that Harris’s history of imprisoning more Latino and Black individuals⁣ than other presidential candidates undermines her credibility ‍and ⁤questioned why Latino voters‍ should support her based on a poorly timed joke from a comedian. Masvidal’s remarks highlight his belief that Harris’s actions do not align with⁢ the needs of the‍ Latino community.

Jorge Masvidal reminds Latino voters Harris has ‘done nothing for Puerto Rico’

UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal mocked Vice President Kamala Harris’s attempted appeal to Latino voters considering “her record.”

The Harris campaign scrambled to rally Latino voters after former president Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden, during which comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made a joke at the expense of the country of Puerto Rico that was poorly received. Masvidal still believes Harris’s record was worse than the joke.

“When you got to just think about it: how have we been living the last four years? How your peers around you been living the past four years? How they treat us right now?” Masvidal said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle. “How they done nothing for Puerto Rico after these hurricanes, have done nothing for Puerto Rico. That she’s locked up more latin and black men than any other person that’s run for presidency. Go look up her record how many people she locked up for smoking marijuana. Latin people, black people, people that look just like me, now we’re going to go vote for her because of some weak *** comedian said a poorly timed joke?”

Before Harris entered the Senate in 2016, she served in the office of Attorney General. In this case, Masvidal was likely referring to Harris’s time as District Attorney of San Francisco.

Masvidal previously campaigned with Trump in 2020, attempting to attract Latino voters with an effort titled “Fighters against Socialism.”

Hispanic support has dwindled with each election cycle. Former President Barack Obama received 67% of the Hispanic vote in 2012, until former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton garnered 66%, down to President Joe Biden’s 59%. Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) predicted that Trump would receive a larger share of the vote than the 38% he had in 2020.
