Soros-funded prosecutor Kim Gardner to face trial for neglecting duties.
Tragic Story Out of St. Louis: Teen Loses Legs in Hit-and-Run
A Shocking Incident
In February, a high school volleyball tournament in St. Louis turned into a nightmare for Janae Edmondson and her family. While crossing the street, they were hit by a car driven by 21-year-old Daniel Riley, who was speeding through town. The car flipped, and Janae’s legs were crushed. She survived, but both legs had to be amputated.
A Shocking Revelation
What’s even more shocking is that Riley was out on bond for a 2020 robbery charge that was dismissed and re-filed last year. He had violated the terms of his release more than 50 times, yet he remained out on bond. The prosecutor’s office, run by Kim Gardner, offered an excuse for why Riley hadn’t been tried in three years, but the explanation turned out to be false.
A Call for Action
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey demanded Gardner’s resignation, but she refused. Bailey filed a “quo warranto” petition arguing that Gardner was unfit for office. He added seven new claims to his lawsuit seeking Gardner’s ouster, including that she refused to review dozens of police use-of-force incidents and created a “toxic office environment” where she yelled at and failed to train subordinates.
A Judge’s Ruling
Gardner has been fighting the allegations, but a judge ruled that the majority of the case, seven of the 10 counts against her, will go to trial. If all of the allegations are found to be true, it gives rise to a reasonable inference that Gardner has failed to act contrary to a known duty.
A Story of Resilience
Despite the tragedy, Janae Edmondson has shown incredible resilience. After weeks of recovery, she was welcomed back to school last month. Our thoughts are with her and her family during this difficult time.
