Kaitlan Collins’ CNN debut falls short of Spongebob Squarepants’ ratings.
Kaitlan Collins’s Debut Show on CNN Falls Flat
Kaitlan Collins, known for her confrontational style during the Trump administration, didn’t quite hit the mark with her own show on CNN.
According to Radar Online, Collins’ primetime show, “The Source With Kaitlan Collins,” garnered fewer viewers than reruns of sitcoms and animated shows. With only 540,000 viewers, it ranked last among its cable news competitors and even came in second on CNN.
The Nielsen ratings revealed that Collins’ show trailed behind repeats of popular shows like “Golden Girls,” “South Park,” “Seinfeld,” “Friends,” and “Modern Family.” It even fell short of “SpongeBob Squarepants.”
Competition within CNN
Within CNN’s primetime lineup, Wolf Blitzer had 639,000 viewers, Erin Burnett had 576,000, and Anderson Cooper had 600,000. In comparison, Fox News’ Sean Hannity, airing at the same time, attracted 1.95 million viewers.
Collins was given the slot by former network head Chris Licht, who praised her “masterful performance” while moderating a town hall with Trump.
Collins: Don’t you think it would have had an effect if you had come out in mid December and publicly conceded the election?
Pence: We had about 60 lawsuits that were working
Collins: A lot of them were thrown out by then.

During her debut, Collins interviewed former Vice President Mike Pence, engaging in a heated exchange. Collins questioned why Pence didn’t publicly concede the election in mid-December when it was clear that Biden had won. Pence explained that they had ongoing lawsuits, some of which were still in the courts.
It’s easy to be a gadfly when you’re a reporter with a liberal news network during a Republican administration. However, covering a Democrat proves to be more challenging. If Collins can only attract Pence, who has minimal support for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, for her debut, it seems her show may struggle moving forward.
