Kamala Harris campaign alumni urge ‘Immediate Ceasefire,’ accuse Israel of ‘Genocide’: Report.
It’s Good to Be a Democrat, Except When It’s Not
“It’s good to be a Democrat,” declares a national talk show host, conveniently ignoring the party’s hypocrisy and corruption. But let’s revise that statement, as radio talker Chris Plante often does. It’s good to be a Democrat, except when it’s not.
Just ask Vice President Kamala Harris and other elected officials who find themselves at odds with a faction of Democratic supporters. According to Politico, former aides from Harris’ 2020 presidential campaign are urging her to push for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East and accusing Israel of genocide against the occupants of Gaza.
Following this line of thinking can lead Democrats to align themselves with Hamas, violence, and growing threats against Jews, both abroad and in our own country.
Harris was on a college tour, highlighting the supposed accomplishments of the Biden administration, when Hamas launched a major attack on Israeli civilians. This put her in an uncomfortable position, potentially facing anti-Israel demonstrations on U.S. campuses.
During a visit to Northern Arizona University, students challenged Harris on claims of civilian casualties in Gaza. And now, former campaign aides are collecting signatures for a letter urging her to support a ceasefire resolution authored by Missouri Democratic Rep. Cori Bush.
This divide within the Democratic Party highlights the challenge of balancing establishment elected officials with supporters of the Palestinian cause.
While Harris has expressed the need for peace, self-determination, and safety for both Israelis and Palestinians, she faces strong emotional pushback from students and critics. And her appearance at an Arizona radio station coincided with a false claim that Israel had attacked a Gaza City hospital.
Harris is navigating the Biden administration’s attempt to appeal to both sides of the Middle Eastern conflict, which has angered leftists who support the Palestinians. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is also facing similar criticism from her former campaign workers.
There has long been tension within the Democratic Party regarding its general anti-Israel bias. This tension, combined with recent events highlighting the evil intentions of some in power, has brought the smoldering specter of anti-Semitism within the party to the surface.
So yes, it’s good to be a Democrat, but only when it aligns with your beliefs and values.
