Kari Lake sues Maricopa County over hidden evidence in election dispute.
Arizona GOP Gubernatorial Nominee Kari Lake Takes Maricopa County to Court Over Mail-In Ballot Envelopes
On Thursday, Kari Lake, the 2022 GOP gubernatorial nominee in Arizona, returned to state court to request access to review the signatures on mail-in ballot envelopes from the November general election in Maricopa County.
However, Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer denied Lake’s request, citing a “privacy interest” to protect voters’ information.
In a post on a social media site, Richer argued that making the signatures public would have a negative impact on voting security and could lead to voter harassment.
Lake responded by accusing Richer of lying and clarified that they were not asking for the signatures to be made public, but rather to review them for legitimacy.
Professional Victim @stephen_richer is lying again.
We’re not asking these signatures to be made public.
We are asking to review them to assess whether they are legitimate or not.
We have a STRONG reason to believe they’re not.
Clearly, so does Stephen. pic.twitter.com/0KxW1a1TkR

In court, Lake’s attorney argued that signatures are regularly seen in public commerce, such as on credit card slips and legal forms, and therefore should not be protected.

Lake’s legal action follows a recent ruling that found Maricopa County officials did not follow the required signature verification process. The statute in question states that election officials should compare the signatures on the ballot envelopes with the signatures on the voter’s registration record.
In response to the ruling, Lake expressed concern about the integrity of the elections and emphasized the importance of following election laws.
She stated, “Maricopa County’s complete abandonment of signature verification standards has allowed for the integrity of our elections to be washed away.”
Lake remains confident in winning the lawsuit to review the early ballot signatures and believes that mail-in ballots are not secure.
She also criticized Maricopa County for exaggerating the potential risks of making the signatures public.
Furthermore, Lake has an ongoing case challenging the win of Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs in the November election.
The fight over the mail-in ballot envelopes continues as Lake seeks to ensure election integrity and transparency.

Lake stated, ”We’re going to ask a judge to take a look at this and to grant us the ability to see those green envelopes that people mail their ballots back in, and we’re going to prove that mail-in ballots are not safe, are not secure, that many don’t have signatures, that many of those signatures do not match.”
