Karine Jean-Pierre: ‘Our Hearts Go Out To The Trans Community As They Are Under Attack Right Now’
In light of the recent tragedy at a school in Nashville where a transgender person killed six people, including three young children, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has expressed sympathy for the trans community. During a press briefing, a reporter asked what message the White House had for lawmakers who continue to pass anti-LGBTQ bills, and for those who took to the streets to protest.
Jean-Pierre reiterated that the administration supported only peaceful protests and had been very clear in condemning the anti-LGBTQ bills passed by state legislatures across the country, specifically those targeting trans kids and parents. She described such laws as shameful and unacceptable, especially on Trans Visibility Day, when the community deserves support, love, and respect.
Moreover, Jean-Pierre emphasized that President Biden has repeatedly promised to protect the rights and welfare of the trans community, and that his record shows his unwavering commitment to achieving that goal. Despite the current attack, the White House remains steadfast in its support for the community and urges everyone to stand up for their rights and freedoms.
