Rove deems DeSantis’ choice of RFK Jr. for FDA/CDC ‘crazy’.
Former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Slams Gov. Ron DeSantis for Controversial Health Agency Pick
During a recent interview on Fox News, former White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove criticized Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for suggesting that he would consider appointing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead either the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the Food and Drug Administration if elected president.
“[Kennedy] is a guy who’s got incredible conspiracy theories that are just outrageous,” Rove stated, dismissing DeSantis’s hypothetical pick as “a nutty idea.”
Rove went on to read off a list of healthcare-related beliefs held by RFK Jr., including claims about vaccines causing autism, WiFi causing cancer, and antidepressants causing school shootings. According to Rove, Kennedy has a multitude of other conspiracy theories as well.
“The 2004 election was stolen as computers switched nearly a quarter million votes in Ohio from John Kerry to George Bush and thereby gave him the election, 5G is a mass surveillance tool and the telecomms, the telephone companies, are in on it. The CIA killed his uncle, Sirhan Sirhan didn’t kill his father,” Rove revealed.
When challenged by Fox News host Bill Hemmer, Rove defended his comments by suggesting that RFK Jr. only receives attention due to his family name and the perceived weakness of President Joe Biden.
DeSantis’s Stance on RFK Jr.
Gov. DeSantis, in an interview with OutKick’s Clay Travis, acknowledged that RFK Jr.’s stance on medical issues does appeal to him. However, he also stated that there are other areas where they would likely disagree, and he would not consider Kennedy as his running mate if elected president.
It is worth noting that RFK Jr. recently made controversial remarks suggesting that COVID-19 was designed to target specific racial groups. While he denied being antisemitic, he expressed regret for making those comments.
