Karoline Leavitt mocks ‘train wreck’ 60 Minutes interview with Harris – Washington Examiner
In recent commentary, Karoline Leavitt, former press secretary for Donald Trump’s campaign, criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’s appearance on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” describing it as a ”train wreck.” Leavitt pointed out that Harris, who has been actively campaigning for just three months with limited media exposure earlier on, has changed her strategy by participating in various interviews, including a podcast and multiple television segments. Leavitt expressed confidence in Trump, despite him not appearing on ”60 Minutes,” and indicated that Harris’s interviews continually showcase her unfitness for leadership. She encouraged more public appearances from Harris, believing they would further demonstrate her inadequacy as a candidate.
Karoline Leavitt mocks ‘train wreck’ 60 Minutes interview with Harris
Former President Donald Trump‘s campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt reveled in CBS’s 60 Minutes interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, referring to the television special as a “train wreck.”
Harris has only been on the campaign trail for three months, with only four weeks left until Election Day. During the first month, she did not give a single interview to a member of the media. However, Harris has reversed course on her media strategy since her debate against Trump in September. The vice president appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast Sunday, followed by a 60 Minutes interview Monday, and a sit-down interview with Howard Stern on Tuesday for his radio show.
Leavitt appeared on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria on Tuesday to express her renewed confidence in Trump despite him not appearing on 60 Minutes. CBS News claimed it had settled on a date to sit down with Trump, only to have the candidate cancel. However, his campaign explained it had not ensured an interview. According to Leavitt, Harris did not do well during her own segment.
“Every time [Kamala Harris] speaks, every time she sits down for an interview, she proves how unfit she is to be the leader of the free world and the commander in chief of our military,” Leavitt said. “Her 60 Minutes interview last night was a train wreck, and I hear she’s gonna be doing a lot more interview interviews in the coming days. I hope that she does because, again, every single time she sits down, she proves to the American people why she can’t be trusted to lead this country.”
Harris and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), have been avoiding regular media appearances, compared to Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), who have made themselves regular staples with reporters.
CBS News’s David Whittaker interviewed Harris on Monday, while the network’s Scott Pelley would have been Trump’s interviewer. The program has a tradition of interviewing candidates from both the Republican and Democratic ticket since 1968. Trump and Harris have already debated for the last time this election cycle.
Walz was interviewed at the end of Harris’s 60 Minutes segment. However, Vance has not made a similar appearance with Trump.
Vance and other Republicans criticized Harris for not sitting down with journalists for an interview for more than a month after she replaced President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket.
