With Kash Patel finally confirmed on Thursday as the new director of the FBI, the most self-aware members of the deep state are probably updating their résumés while waiting for Patel’s next moves. Omelets will be made; eggs will be broken.

In a 51- 49 vote, the Senate confirmed President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the top law enforcement agency in the land for 10 years. His confirmation came in the face of protests from Democrats who did their best to soil his reputation. After all, powers within the FBI have operated at the bidding of establishment Democrats for years. Democrats don’t want Patel to root out the left’s secret weapon: unscrupulous, Trump-sabotaging, Hunter-Biden-laptop-protecting, church-infiltrating, Mar-a-Lago-raiding, pro-lifer-arresting members of the FBI.

There will be no more denying corruption; Patel enters with his eyes wide open and a solid idea of where to look for the bad actors that cost this nation millions in bogus political investigations designed to stop or hobble Trump’s agenda during his last term.

Patel unraveled Russiagate, debunking the Steele dossier at the core of Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI investigation that falsely claimed Trump colluded with Russians during the presidential campaign against Hillary Clinton. In a recent article, my colleague Elle Purnell expertly described Patel’s role in unraveling that damaging hoax still repeated as fact by many on the left.

“There are few people who understand the magnitude of the abuses committed by the FBI during the Russia hoax as well as Kash Patel,” Purnell wrote. It is the reason corrupt FBI employees dread his presence.

Others welcome Patel, who was “endorsed by organizations representing more than 680,000 law enforcement officers and by dozens of former and current FBI agents, state attorneys general and U.S. attorneys,” Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said on the Senate floor the day before Patel was confirmed.

“I want to speak now to those who have viciously opposed Mr. Patel’s nomination. At the heart of their opposition is a fear that he’ll act like Democrats did when Democrats were in power,” Grassley said. “These Democrats are afraid the FBI … will use lawfare against political opponents, like the FBI used lawfare against President Trump and others. These Democrats are afraid he’ll use subpoena power and coordinate with the media to target those seeking accountability, just like Democrats did against Mr. Patel and also against my own investigative staff.”

Grassley went on to list more troubling FBI overreach, including retaliation against FBI and IRS whistleblowers and the surveillance of traditional Catholic families and parents speaking against the agenda of President Joe Biden’s administration at school board meetings.

It won’t be surprising when the media that has long partnered with the FBI continues to write negative stories about Patel doing the necessary work of cleaning up corruption within the FBI.

Within a few hours of confirmation, Patel’s new X account had more than 200,000 followers.

“I am honored to be confirmed as the ninth Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Patel posted.

“The FBI has a storied legacy,” Patel said, “from the ‘G-Men’ to safeguarding our nation in the wake of 9/11. The American people deserve an FBI that is transparent, accountable, and committed to justice. The politicalization of our justice system has eroded public trust — but that ends today.”

Patel promised to “rebuild trust in the FBI” and “rebuild an FBI the American people can be proud of,” while warning “those who seek to harm Americans”: “We will hunt you down in every corner of this planet.”

“Mission First. America Always. Let’s get to work.”
