Nearly a month has passed since Musk began his volunteer position with the Department of Government Efficiency to create “a lean team of small-government crusaders” who work closely with the White House Office of Management and Budget. DOGE is examining the Education, Homeland Security, Treasury departments, and, most recently, NASA. The team is hoping to accomplish all of its work by July 4, 2026.

“I kind of feel like many of our Democrat colleagues are like the song ‘Stuck in the Middle With You.’ They’ve got clowns to the left of them and jokers on their right, and they have no idea what to do,” Cammack said on Fox News’s The Faulkner Focus Wednesday. “It is kind of a little bit sad when you think about the fact they’re so committed to hatred to Donald Trump and Elon Musk they can’t bring themselves to acknowledge the good in rooting out waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption.”

Democratic lawmakers have protested Musk’s involvement in examining federal spending and called him an “unelected bureaucratic oligarch.” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) referred to Musk as one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met or seen or witnessed.”

“Privately, I have had Democrat colleagues say, ‘I love what Elon is doing,’ but they are too scared to speak out,” Cammack added.

Legal challenges have obstructed DOGE’s efforts. While a lawsuit attempting to keep DOGE out of the data from the Labor Department was dismissed, and another attempt from 13 Democratic attorneys general was similarly thrown out, one U.S. district judge ruled against the department accessing the U.S. Treasury.
