Kate Middleton Gets New Title From King Charles III

Kate Middleton has received a new extended title from King Charles III after he previously gave her the title Princess of Wales following the late-Queen Elizabeth’s death in September. The Royal Matriarch was 96.

Buckingham Palace announced that the Princess of Wales has also become an Honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards, a title previously given to Middleton’s husband Prince William ten years ago, the Evening Standard reported. William was previously named the Irish Guards’ first Royal Colonel.

Middleton’s first title change occurred three months ago after the King gave a message to the nation sharing what the royal couple’s title would be now, the outlet noted.

“With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the center ground where vital help can be given,” King Charles shared at the time. The title Princess of Wales was an honor previously held by the late-Princess Diana.

William’s title has also been extended to now include Colonel of the Welsh Guards — an honor previously held by Prince Charles before he became King — following the queen’s death in September, E! News noted.

King Charle’s wife, Queen Consort Camilla’s title has also been extended to include Colonel of the Grenadier Guards — an honor previously held by Prince Andrew — which was vacated in January when the late queen stripped him of royal titles over ties to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Other news announced from the royal household included that King Charles III’s birthday celebration, known as Trooping the Colour, will be held on June 17, 2023. The royal’s birthday celebration will come after the king’s coronation which is set to take place May 6, the Evening Standard noted.

During the king’s first official address as monarch, he thanked everyone for their love and devotion to his family, after his mother’s death.

“I want simply to say this: Thank you,” the royal shared in a pre-recorded message. “Thank you for your love, and devotion to our family, and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
