Pop singer Katy Perry rewrote NFL kicker Harrison Butker’s viral commencement speech for Pride Month.
The 39-year-old performer posted a heavily edited version of Butker’s address last month at Benedictine College in Kansas. Perry’s video is edited with several jump cuts to rearrange the Kansas City Chiefs kicker’s words to promote ideas opposite of those Butker espoused at the commencement ceremony, which leftists criticized as sexist and homophobic.
Perry added the caption, “Fixed this for my girls, my graduates, and my gays – you can do anything, congratulations and happy pride.”

“For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. You should be proud of all that you have achieved to this point in your young lives,” Butker says in Perry’s edited version. “How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you’re going to get in your career?”
“I would venture to guess the women here today are going to lead successful careers in the world. I say all of this to you because I have seen it firsthand. How much happier someone can be supporting women and not saying that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
“The road ahead is bright. Things are changing. Society is shifting, and people young and old are embracing diversity, equity and inclusion. With that said, I want to say Happy Pride Month to all of you and congratulations Class of 2024!” the video concluded.
Butker has been under fire for making the speech last month, which included his thoughts on Pride Month, the nature of motherhood, abortion, COVID, and President Joe Biden. Feminists were especially incensed that Butker called a woman’s vocation to motherhood “one of the most important titles of all.”

“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you,” Butker told the graduates at the time. “How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
Leftists have been ripping on Butker for weeks following the speech, demanding that the NFL fire him for stating his opinions. The NFL star has not backed down and recently gave a second speech at the “Courage Under Fire” gala fundraiser event for Regina Caeli Academy, a Catholic homeschool organization in Nashville.
“The more I’ve talked about what I value most, which is my Catholic faith, the more polarizing I have become,” he said at the event. “It’s a decision I’ve consciously made and one I do not regret at all. If we have truth and charity, we should trust in the Lord’s providence and let the Holy Ghost do the rest of the work.”
