Kellyanne Conway: Crime unites us, solutions cross party lines.
Republican Strategist Kellyanne Conway Offers Solutions to Rising Crime
Crime is spreading “everywhere right now,” according to Republican strategist Kellyanne Conway. She appeared on Saturday’s Lawrence Jones Cross Country show to address Wisconsin State Sen. LaTonya Johnson’s argument against increased police presence in suburban areas. Johnson had made controversial remarks on the Senate floor, stating “f*** the suburbs” while advocating for the concerns of city residents.
“Crime is so random and capricious right now and is everywhere right now,” Conway responded. “The lack of faith in elected officials stems from the problems that are right in front of people. We’re accustomed to the right-left, red-blue divide, but to witness such an urban-suburban divide from a state legislator is untrue and unhelpful.”
Conway highlighted the fact that crime-ridden areas often have Democratic leadership, such as Wisconsin’s Governor Tony Evers and Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez. She predicted that voters seeking solutions to crime may turn away from Democratic candidates as a result.
“Crime used to be a nonpartisan issue with bipartisan solutions, but this party has damaged itself with border security, crime in our neighborhoods, and a lack of economic security. People feel vulnerable and unsafe, unsure if they can live a secure life and make a difference,” Conway explained.
Wisconsin’s capital, Madison, has experienced a decline in total crimes, reporting just over 13,000 incidents in 2021, which is 1,000 fewer than the previous year, according to the latest report. Additionally, Madison boasts a clearance rate of over 50% for all crimes except rape, as reported by the state’s Department of Justice.
