Kemp hints at joining Trump on campaign trail as Harris expands team in Georgia – Washington Examiner
In a recent appearance on Fox News’s “Fox and Friends,” Georgia Governor Brian Kemp hinted at the possibility of joining former President Donald Trump on the campaign trail as the Harris-Walz campaign increases its staffing in Georgia. Despite a history of tension between them, Kemp expressed a commitment to support the entire Republican ticket for the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of winning Georgia as a key to the White House. He acknowledged past distractions from Trump’s camp but suggested that those issues should remain in the past. Referring to the significance of their collaboration, Kemp stated, “The road to the White House runs through Georgia,” and voiced his conviction against a continuation of Democratic leadership. Additionally, it is reported that Kemp may participate in a Trump fundraiser soon.

Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) hinted he might join former President Donald Trump on the campaign trail as the Harris-Walz campaign boosts its staff in Georgia.
Kemp spoke about the state of the race in Georgia in an appearance on Fox News’s Fox and Friends. When asked if there may be a joint campaign appearance with the president, he said they will see what happens.
“Well, we’ll see how that plays out. I know they got a busy schedule,” Kemp replied. “We’re going to continue to work hard for the whole ticket here in Georgia. We gotta win. We gotta win. That’s the bottom line.”
Trump and Kemp have experienced a renewal of the rift between them in recent weeks, with each hitting the other in public statements, both subtly and not so subtly. However, the feud appears to have been quashed, with Kemp saying it is in the past — though throwing one last jab by implying the fault was with Trump’s camp.
“Well, look, there was a little distraction, obviously, on their side when it came to Georgia,” he said. “But to me, that’s in the past. I have been saying that, guys, literally for over a year now, that I was going to support our nominee. That we had to win Georgia. The road to the White House runs through Georgia. And I still believe today we cannot afford four more years of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. It’s not about me. And as former President Trump says a lot. It’s not about him. It’s about our country.”
He contrasted the foreign policy of the Trump and Biden administrations, praising former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Kemp is reportedly scheduled to appear at a fundraiser for Trump on Thursday, according to the Hill. He will be at the Atlanta event alongside his wife, Marty Kemp, whom Trump has targeted for “disloyalty,” and Pompeo.
The Harris campaign has doubled down on Georgia in recent weeks, hiring 400,000 volunteers and 174 staffers and opening 24 campaign offices. Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) are embarking on a bus tour across the state to rally support.
Cook Political Report rated Georgia as a “toss-up” for the presidential election in August, revising its July rating of “lean Republican.”
Harris is polling at 46%, according to a New York Times-Siena College poll released on Aug. 17, which is a significant narrowing of Trump’s lead.
