Kevin Costner Addresses Jewel Dating Speculation
Kevin Costner, during his appearance on the Sirius XM “The Howard Stern Show,” addressed and dismissed the rumors linking him romantically to singer Jewel Kilcher. Costner clarified that the two are merely friends and have never dated. He expressed concern that the rumors could potentially damage their friendship, describing Jewel as special but emphasizing that their relationship is strictly platonic. Additionally, Costner mentioned that misleading photos from an event at Richard Branson’s Necker Island had fueled these baseless speculations, but he reiterated that there was no romantic involvement. Jewel herself had previously neither confirmed nor denied the dating rumors after similar speculation arose following their appearance together at a Caribbean charity event.
Kevin Costner finally broke his silence about those Jewel dating rumors and said there was no truth to them, making it clear that he and the singer are just friends.
During the 69-year-old actor’s appearance on the Sirius XM “The Howard Stern Show,” the host asked the superstar actor if he was in love and said he’d heard rumors that the “Yellowstone” star and singer — born Jewel Kilcher — were an item, TMZ reported.
Costner said “no” to both questions, and said that those dating claims are nothing more than rumors.
“Jewel and I are friends,” Costner said. “We’ve never gone out. She’s special. And I don’t want these rumors to ruin our friendship because that’s what we have.”
“She’s special, I mean she’s beautiful enough to go out with,” he added, noting that images that came out of the time they spent in December at Richard Branson’s Necker Island made it look like something it wasn’t. “I don’t want the press to ruin this for us.”
“Because I’ve had conversations with her text-wise … and so we have a friendship. We don’t have a romance. We’ve not dated. It’s just never happened for us,” Costner continued, noting that he’s had to explain to his kids that nothing is going on between them.

In April, Jewel didn’t confirm or deny the two were romantically involved months after photos surfaced of the two stars looking cozy at the Branson charity event in the Caribbean.
“He’s a great person,” the singer said. “The public fascination is intense for sure.”
In December, a TMZ photo showed Costner with his arms wrapped around the 49-year-old singer while she was speaking at a microphone and appeared to be sitting on Costner’s lap at the event.
Sources told the outlet Costner and Kilcher — flew to the Caribbean together and stayed there after the event before flying back together as well.
“There was definitely something going on,” a source told the outlet. “They were flirty, and when they were together, it was like they both just lit up.”
In 2023, Costner and his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner finalized their divorce after nearly 18 years of marriage. The pair share three children together.
The “Dances with Wolves” star was previously married to Cindy Costner, with whom he shares three children. The couple divorced in 1994. He also has a son with Bridget Rooney.
Kilcher shares a son with her ex-husband, professional rodeo cowboy Ty Murray.
