Kevin Costner’s wife won’t vacate their $145 million home, leaving the actor worried about homelessness.
Kevin Costner’s Divorce Takes Ugly Turn as Living Arrangements Spark Battle
The divorce between Kevin Costner and his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, is heating up with a dispute over living arrangements. According to an exclusive report in the Daily Mail, Costner claims to be “homeless” after Baumgartner refused to move out of their house.
The couple’s $145 million house in Carpinteria, California has become the center of a potential “War of the Roses” style legal battle, as reported by the outlet.
“It is owned solely by Costner and he bought it in 1988, long before their 2004 wedding.”
According to their prenuptial agreement, Baumgartner was supposed to be the one to move out if they ever split. However, Costner expressed his concerns, saying, “I was married once before and, upon separation, found myself without home base and unable to live in my own home. I never wanted this to happen again.”
Costner, who had been away filming in Utah, wanted to return to his home after his off-location schedule began in June. The premarital agreement allowed Baumgartner $1.2 million to relocate, so complying wouldn’t leave her without options.
Costner’s lawyers have made several offers to Baumgartner to encourage her to abide by the agreement, including covering moving costs, providing assistance from Costner’s household staff, and offering $30,000 a month for rental expenses, according to court papers cited by the Mail.
However, Baumgartner is allegedly using her presence in the house as leverage to negotiate financial demands, as claimed by Costner’s lawyers.

In addition to the living arrangements dispute, Baumgartner has filed a restraining order against Costner, preventing him from taking their three children out of state or disposing of any property. Costner also expressed his frustration in court documents, claiming that Baumgartner charged $95,000 on his credit card without his knowledge to hire lawyers and a forensic accountant.
Baumgartner filed for divorce on May 1 after 18 years of marriage, as reported by TMZ. Both parties have requested joint custody of their children.
