Kid Favorite Cartoon ‘Peppa Pig’ Debuts Same-Sex Couple After Petition For LGBTQ Representation
The popular British children’s cartoon Peppa Pig is making headlines this week for introducing a same-sex couple, two lesbian polar bears, in a new episode that premiered Tuesday.
Per NBC News, Penny the Polar Bear tells the eponymous character Peppa that she has “two mummies” and draws a picture of herself holding hands with them.
“I live with my mummy and my other mummy,” Penny explains. “One mummy is a doctor, and one mummy cooks spaghetti. I love spaghetti.”

The cartoon may be of British origin, but it has become extremely popular around the world. NBC News reported that “Peppa Pig” has been translated into 40 languages and is broadcast in 180 countries. “Peppa” has a devoted fan base in the United States.
The series focuses on the 4-year-old pig, Peppa, and her life with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, and her younger brother George. The publication notes that some critics take issue with how the cartoon glorifies a traditional nuclear family.
This led to the creation of a petition in 2019 that demanded series creators add a same-sex couple. Over the years, the petition has garnered more than 23,000 signatures.
“Despite there being six series and over 250 episodes produced so far, none of the families feature same-sex parents,” the petition says.
“Children watching Peppa Pig are at an impressionable age, and excluding same-sex families will teach them that only families with either a single parent or two parents of different sexes are normal,” it continues. “This means that children of same-sex parents may feel alienated by Peppa Pig, and that other children may be more likely to bully them, simply through ignorance.”
The news comes months after video of an all-hands meeting at Disney headquarters went viral, with one executive producer explaining how she could easily implement her “not-at-all secret gay agenda” in one show. Disclosure: The Daily Wire has announced plans for childrens’ entertainment content.
Also, the “Toy Story” spinoff “Lightyear” got backlash from parents as it featured a same-sex kiss which was initially cut from the final version but got added back in when the company came out publicly against the Florida Parental Rights In Education Bill — which critics dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay Bill.”
“Peppa Pig” is just one in a long line of children’s shows accused of pandering to LGBTQ activists through cartoons for children. Twitter critics voiced their objections to the narrative pushing.
“I have no problem with LGBT, etc. but what I do have a problem with is this sh** being drummed into them when they’re toddlers, stop confusing them and let them be kids,” one person shared.
“That’s the end of the Peppa Pig phenomenon. What a shame. Education not indoctrination,” another wrote, saying children “need to learn the basics, the norm, the generalizations — not the outliers, the exceptions or the fashionable.”
