Kim Kardashian Petitions Judge For Divorce From Kanye West, Cites ‘Emotional Distress’ From Social Media Posts
Exactly one year after she first filed for divorce, Kim Kardashian is officially requesting from the courts that her separation from husband Kanye West become permanent.
New paperwork obtained by TMZ reveals how the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star is feeling as the public battle between her and the “Donda” rapper plays out across a public forum. The mom-of-four asked for a judge to grant their divorce, specifically mentioning how Ye’s recent Instagram posts about their private lives have caused her “emotional distress.”
“I very much desire to be divorced,” the documents allegedly state. “Kanye has been putting a lot of misinformation regarding our private matters and co-parenting on social media which has created emotional distress.”
The new paperwork also references previous documents filed by West, which Kardashian called “unprecedented” as she says they are “preventing or making it difficult for her to remarry.” The SKIMS brand founder is currently dating “SNL” comedian Pete Davidson, a fact which has come up multiple times in Ye’s social media criticisms. In a new song called “Eazy,” the rapper threatened to “beat Pete Davidson’s a**.”
“While I wish our marriage would have succeeded, I have come to the realization that there is no way to repair our marriage. Kanye does not agree but at least it appears that he has come to the realization that I want to end our marriage, even if he does not,” the document continues.
Kardashian expresses her desire to be single now so she “can begin the healing process and so that our family can begin the healing process and move forward in this new chapter in our lives.”
West and Kardashian wed in 2014 and quickly became one of Hollywood’s power couples. The pair welcomed four children during their marriage: North (8), Saint (6), Chicago (4), and Psalm (2) together.
The former couple professed to be focused on peaceful co-parenting and their children’s well-being. However, drama ramped up at the end of last year when West purchased the house across the street from Kardashian. Next, the rapper started sharing some of his inner thoughts on the situation with his millions of social media followers. He specifically called out how Kardashian was not imposing social media rules for their daughter.
West wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post, “SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL?”
Kardashian replied with an Instagram story of her own, criticizing West for making their private conversation part of a public debate.
“Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create,” the SKIMS founder wrote in part.
“As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision — because it brings her happiness. Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all.”
This is just one of many examples of West and Kardashian fighting for the world to see. Now the “KUWTK” star is seeking to permanently separate from her ex.
