Kobe Bryant’s LA statue to be modified for error correction
The Los Angeles Lakers to Make Alterations to Kobe Bryant Statue Outside Crypto.com Arena
The statue of the late Kobe Bryant outside Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles is about to undergo some exciting changes, as announced by the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.
The Bryant statue, which serves as a powerful symbol of his immense success and impact with the Lakers, unfortunately contains a few noticeable errors etched into its marble base. However, the Lakers have assured fans that these mistakes will soon be rectified, according to a report.
One of the errors involves misspelling the names of Jose Calderon and Von Wafer in a replica box score of Bryant’s legendary 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors. Additionally, there is a formatting mistake on the marble, where a list of the five-time NBA champion’s accomplishments can be found.
“We have been aware of this for a few weeks and are already working to get it corrected soon,” stated a spokesperson for the Lakers.
After images of the errors went viral on social media, fans expressed their disappointment. However, they can now look forward to seeing the corrected version of the statue in the near future.
Bryant’s bronze statue, standing at an impressive 19 feet tall, was unveiled to the public just last month. It serves as a lasting tribute to the basketball legend, who tragically lost his life along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020.
This statue is the first of at least three commissioned to honor the incredible legacy of Kobe Bryant.
