In a pivotal turn come January 2020 and after exhaustive IVF attempts, Wiig and Rothman joyfully embraced the birth of their son and daughter, thanks to a surrogate.
Wiig candidly shares, “Despite my initial resistance to alternative paths, I came to an epiphany—I needed help. We were blessed with an extraordinary surrogate who made our dreams possible.”

Wiig opens up about the mixed feelings that accompanied her surrogate’s pregnancy. “Feeling the twins kick sparked immense joy, yet, pangs of self-questioning shadowed the experience,” she admits. “Nevertheless, I would realign my thoughts to the incredible gift we were being given. My sole wish was their safe arrival.”
Reflecting on her experience, Wiig says, “In hindsight, it was a poignant and beautiful journey, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I believe our babies arrived exactly as they were meant to.”
The couple, who began their relationship in 2016 and got engaged three years later, has since tied the knot, as noted by People magazine. During a conversation with Howard Stern, the celebrated “Saturday Night Live” alum fondly referred to Rothman as her husband, confirming their marriage.
