Kristi Noem sees no path to victory for anyone except Trump, but refrains from endorsing.
Gov. Kristi Noem: Trump is the Key to Victory
“President Trump is in the race and right now I don’t see a path for victory with anybody else with him in the race and the situation as it sits today,”
Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) made a bold statement in a recent interview on local radio. She firmly believes that former President Donald Trump is the only Republican candidate with a shot at winning the presidency. Speaking to South Dakota radio station KWAT, Noem expressed her doubts about any other candidate’s chances.
No Endorsement, but No Doubt
While Noem stopped short of endorsing Trump, she made it clear that she doesn’t see herself endorsing anyone else either. When asked if she would be making an endorsement at all, Noem simply replied, “No. I don’t think so.” Her office later clarified that her comments about Trump were not meant as an endorsement.
But what about Noem’s own political ambitions? When asked about a potential presidential run, the South Dakota governor redirected the focus to her current responsibilities. “Wouldn’t that be interesting? If there were South and North Dakota governors running for president?” Noem pondered, referring to Gov. Doug Burgum’s (R-ND) candidacy. “But no, I — right now, I’m still focused on South Dakota.”
A Text from Burgum
Noem revealed an interesting interaction with Gov. Burgum. She admitted that he had texted her, asking for her support in his campaign. However, she made it clear that she declined to endorse him. Despite this, Noem had kind words for Burgum, describing him as a “great guy” who is working hard.
It seems that Noem is keeping her options open. While she believes Trump is the frontrunner, she also acknowledged the unpredictable nature of presidential races. “I think people should battle up. It can be a roller coaster of a presidential race,” Noem said. She even suggested that the eventual winner may not even be in the race yet, leaving room for speculation and surprises.
Only time will tell how the Republican primary race unfolds, but for now, Noem sees Trump as the key to victory.
