Kyle Rittenhouse faces lawsuit from Joseph Rosenbaum’s estate.
Kyle Rittenhouse Faces Lawsuit Over Self-Defense Shooting
Kyle Rittenhouse is currently facing a lawsuit from the estate of one of the men he shot in self-defense. The lawsuit was filed on the third anniversary of the death of 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum, adding to the ongoing controversy surrounding the case.
Legal Battle and Acquittal
Rittenhouse was acquitted of all criminal charges related to the incident a year later, but the legal battles continue. Rosenbaum’s estate is not only targeting Rittenhouse but also the City of Kenosha, its officials, the City of West Allis, six local Sheriff’s departments, and two police departments. They are seeking compensatory and punitive damages for what they claim to be Rosenbaum’s wrongful death.
During Rittenhouse’s trial, witnesses confirmed that Rosenbaum had reached for Rittenhouse’s gun during the Black Lives Matter protest they both attended. This detail adds complexity to the case and raises questions about self-defense.
Public Reactions
The news of the lawsuit has sparked strong reactions from various individuals. Rittenhouse himself expressed his frustration, posting on social media, “I’m being sued again for defending my life.”
Attorney Jenna Ellis, who is also facing charges of election interference, voiced her support for Rittenhouse and other conservatives facing legal challenges. She wrote, “I stand with my friend [Kyle] and *every* conservative they’re all coming after, trying to destroy our rights and reputations and lives. Are you awake yet?”
Former Texas Rep. Jonathan Stickland echoed this sentiment, stating, “My friend Kyle Rittenhouse is under attack again for defending himself, but he will never face the liberal mob alone. Patriots, we must stick together.”
Continuing Legal Battles
Following his acquittal, Rittenhouse relocated to Texas. However, this latest lawsuit against him was filed in the District Court Eastern District of Wisconsin, indicating that the legal challenges are far from over.
It is important to remember that Rittenhouse was only 17 years old at the time of the incident. The shooting resulted in the deaths of both Rosenbaum and 26-year-old Anthony Huber.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the case continues to generate significant attention and debate.
