Lady Gaga’s Father ‍Leads Fight Against Illegal Immigrants in New York City Neighborhood

Joe Germanotta, the father of Lady ⁤Gaga,‌ is taking a stand against the influx of illegal immigrants⁤ in his upscale New York City neighborhood. He believes‍ that they⁣ have “basically taken ⁣over” and is determined⁤ to bring⁢ attention to‍ the issue.

Germanotta, ‌who has been ‍a resident of The Pythian on the Upper ⁤West Side of Manhattan for 35 years, recently expressed his⁣ concerns about the nearby Stratford Arms Hotel. The hotel was converted into a home for 500 illegal immigrants just six ⁣weeks ago, causing a⁤ significant disruption in the area.

In⁣ an interview with The New York Post, Germanotta stated,‌ “If it was like this when my girls ⁣were growing up, I ‍wouldn’t be living in New York. There’s now 500‌ migrants living in⁢ that dormitory.‍ That’s when all the mayhem began.”

Creating Change Through Community Action

Germanotta has joined⁤ forces with fellow residents from his building and other neighbors to establish the West 70th Street Association. Their goal is to lobby City Hall for increased policing⁢ and better ⁣control of the situation.

He⁢ described ⁢the current state of the neighborhood, saying, “Hookers are coming and going. In the mornings, you see⁣ prostitutes coming ‍out of the building. The worst part’s at night. The noise. It starts at ‍about 10 o’clock, and it’ll go until 4 in the⁤ morning. Playing music and ‌racing their motocross and motorbikes up and down ‌the streets.”‌ Germanotta also expressed concern for the safety of young girls who ‍have been catcalled.

Reflecting on the sudden ‍influx of migrants, Germanotta recalled, “It was a stealth operation. They were bused in in the middle of⁤ the ‍night, like when they flew them into Westchester, they didn’t want anybody to know what was going on. It was ⁢all pretty rapid.”

While⁤ Germanotta acknowledges that the migrants will be staying in the neighborhood for three years, he believes that proper management is essential. He emphasized ‌the need for increased security, police presence, and⁤ a code of conduct to ensure ‍that the migrants respect ‌the⁣ community they are‍ temporarily residing ⁤in.

Germanotta also criticized the American Music⁢ and ‍Dance Academy (AMDA), which owns the facilities ⁤that were converted into migrant shelters. ⁢He accused AMDA of profiting ‍from the situation at the ⁢expense of the neighborhood.

Taking aim at New York City Mayor⁣ Eric Adams, Germanotta suggested alternative solutions, stating, “In my opinion, you should have just suspended ‘sanctuary‌ city’⁤ status ⁣until we⁣ had‍ enough housing and then said, ‘Yeah, okay, you can send some more.’ It’s a joke. Why ‌doesn’t he get one of the ⁢cruise ships? The cruise ⁣ships‌ hold more people, and‌ it’s a more controlled environment.”

Germanotta expressed his disappointment in the ‍city’s‌ allocation of resources, arguing that the money spent⁤ on accommodating the migrants ⁢could⁤ be better used to address issues such as affordable housing ⁢and support for veterans⁤ and the homeless.

Mayor ‍Adams has acknowledged ‍the challenges faced by ⁢the city, stating, “We are⁢ facing an unprecedented state of⁢ emergency.‍ The immigration system in this country is broken, it‌ has been broken for decades. … New⁤ York City has been ⁢left to pick up the pieces.”

Germanotta concluded by calling for compensation for the⁣ residents affected by the situation, ⁣suggesting a tax ‍rebate as‍ a possible solution.
