LAPD Releases Extended Body Cam Video Showing Arrest of BLM Founder’s Cousin

The Los Angeles Police Department Additional body camera footage has been released regarding the death of Keenan Arthur, who was taken into police custody earlier in the month.

Anderson was Patrisse’s cousin. Anderson, a 31-year-old high-school English teacher from Washington, D.C., While visiting his family in Los Angeles, he flagged down an Officer for a Car Crash in Venice, California. 

Witnesses said Anderson was the one who caused the crash. Anderson was interviewed by an officer, who then called in additional units to investigate the DUI.

The entire body camera video was released Monday and shows approximately seven minutes of the incident prior to Anderson’s arrest. According to the LAPD, Anderson suffered a medical emergency. Preliminary toxicology reports indicated Anderson had suffered a medical emergency. marijuana and cocaine in his blood.

Anderson’s family has filed a $50 Million claim for damages against Los Angeles. Attorney Carl Douglas, along with Ben Crump (a prominent civil-rights attorney) announced the damages claim in a news conference. Crump represented George Floyd’s family from Minnesota.

“If you tase someone with 50,000 watts of electrical energy six times in the heart, is there really any wonder that moments later his heart would begin to flutter?” Douglas said. “Is there really any wonder that moments later his heart would begin to beat erratically? And is there any wonder why four hours later his heart could no longer withstand the pressure from that Taser and gave out?”

The city has not yet responded to the claim. According to the LAPD a thorough investigation into Anderson’s murder is underway.
