Lara Trump says campaign doubts Harris will pose threat to Donald Trump’s electability

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign waved aside concerns that Vice President Kamala Harris could win the 2024 election, arguing she is too attached to President Joe Biden.

Biden announced Sunday that he will not continue his 2024 reelection campaign and gave his endorsement to Harris to take his place. Lara Trump, the co-chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, spoke very harshly against the Biden campaign for “lying to the American people” regarding Biden’s mental wellness and ability to serve, calling this distrust between the Democratic Party and voters “a huge problem.”

“I think another thing that’s really stunning right now is the fact that, of course, this is a party that always calls for ‘democracy, democracy is imperiled,’” Lara Trump said on Fox News’s Hannity. “They have done the least democratic thing right now, and they are, I guess, going to run Kamala Harris. … This woman never received a single win in a single caucus or a primary. She dropped out before her own home state of California in 2016, Sean. As far as we’re concerned from the Trump campaign and the RNC, our vision and our mission is very clear. We are running Donald J. Trump as our president.”

She added that the Republican Party recently finished its 2024 convention, which she said many people believed was the most hopeful convention they had ever been to. She also said while the Democrats are in “complete disarray,” her party is focused on what they need to achieve.

Jason Miller, the former president’s senior adviser, similarly criticized the Democratic Party for calling footage of Biden appearing lost as “cheapfakes” and that the Democrats lost this argument once the president debated Trump onstage live last month. Miller added that, in many ways, not much has changed for the Trump campaign with Biden bowing out, regardless of who replaces Biden as the nominee.

“We’ve done the research. We’ve done the polling. We have the ads cut,” Miller said on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime. “President Trump is going to defeat whoever the Democrats go and put up. And I want to go back to something. … If Joe Biden isn’t competent enough to run for president, how can he be competent enough to be president now? Kamala Harris needs to answer this question, for sure, but when you look at Putin, Xi, the ayatollah, you look at any of our adversaries around the world, they see gross incompetence in the White House. I don’t see how Joe Biden can remain.”

Danielle Alvarez, another senior adviser in the Trump campaign, contended that Trump gave “the devastating and dominant” performance at last month’s debate against Biden, which she said led to the president dropping out of the 2024 race. She added that unlike Trump, Harris is not a very good speaker and that she does not connect to voters as “a California elite.”

The news of Biden bowing out of the 2024 race left many media personalities shocked, with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow contending that his decision gives the United States “a chance” at not letting Trump win. She also said she was “blown away by the sacrifice and the patriotism” of Biden’s decision.

On Monday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that the Democratic Party “stole the race from Biden after he won it in the primaries,” calling the party “the real THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!”
