Lara Trump hopes to avoid recess appointments for father-in-law’s Cabinet – Washington Examiner
Lara Trump, Co-Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, expressed her hope that the Senate will efficiently confirm the nominations for President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet without any issues. Amidst speculation that Trump might consider using a recess appointment due to potential challenges with some controversial nominees, Lara Trump emphasized her preference for a smooth confirmation process. In a recent appearance on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” she stated, “I hope enough Republican senators overall who say, ‘Yes, we understand the importance of these choices’ will move forward with confirmations.” The Senate is currently undertaking its first session with new nominations under review.

Republican National Committee Co-Chairwoman Lara Trump expressed hope that the Senate will approve President-elect Donald Trump’s administration nominations without incident.
Rumors are swirling about whether the president-elect will call a recess for the Senate and appoint his Cabinet, as some of his picks may have trouble getting through Congress. Presidents have rarely wielded this authority.
“Well, I hope we don’t need to get there. I hope enough Republican senators overall who say, ‘Yes, we understand the importance of these choices. We will go ahead and confirm these people,’” said Lara Trump on Fox News’s Fox & Friends on Wednesday. “They need to be confirmed, so I hope we don’t have to see that day come.”
Currently, the Senate is in its first session since the Nov. 5 election and is rushing judicial appointments while the Democratic members still have the majority and President Joe Biden is still in office. In the meantime, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance is escorting former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz to meetings with senators to drum up votes for his nomination.
“I hope that Senate Republicans have taken note, this is what the American people demand, and this is what they should deliver exactly as Donald Trump has chosen,” Lara Trump said.
With his second presidential term on the horizon, Donald Trump has rapidly issued appointments this time around. Republican senators hope to confirm them before the Jan. 20 inauguration, so the president-elect only has to sign the paperwork to make them official. During this next Congress, the Republicans will have the majority in the Senate and could override any attempt to thwart Donald Trump’s appointments.
Since Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) became the pick for the next secretary of State, Lara Trump has been floated to replace him in the Senate to represent Florida. She has served as RNC co-chairwoman since March.
