President Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, has suggested critical race theory divides children based on the color of their skin. This follows American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten, who accused GOP lawmakers of bullying teachers out of teaching students the truth.
Lara Trump told sources on Thursday, “the bottom line is that anything that would teach us anything but loving our country, loving one another, and judging people based on the content of their character, solely is just flat wrong.” She added, Americans want their children to be taught the truth, but critical race theory promotes judgement based on skin color and is not a positive way of educating young Americans.
Weingarten argued opposition to the implementation of CRT in schools is hurting children’s education, despite major pushback from parents and teachers that believe the curriculum creates more division.
Florida’s education system exists to create opportunity for our children. Critical Race Theory teaches kids to hate our country and to hate each other. It is state-sanctioned racism and has no place in Florida schools. pic.twitter.com/ludv7ARgNP

States across the country have passed legislation in response to progressive’s push for CRT in schools, including bills signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).
The legislation DeSantis signed to combat CRT says what is taught “must be factual and objective, and may not suppress or distort significant historical events.” Additionally, Gov. Abbott has said laws regarding critical race theory will be a topic Texas lawmakers will revisit during its’ special session.
Meanwhile, Weingarten threated GOP legislation and said she vows there will be legal action to defend teaching what she calls “honest history.”
Critics of CRT, including parents, teachers and lawmakers have continued to fight against its implementation, believing the ideology indoctrinates students, perpetuates division and creates a negative view of America.
