Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump celebrated key changes to the national Republican party at the North Carolina GOP convention in Greensboro on Friday — including endorsing mail-in voting, despite previous attacks from Donald Trump.

The convention began with speeches from Lara Trump, elected to co-chair in March, and her husband, Eric Trump, who touted the recent RNC changes as necessary to bring the former president back into the White House — and that means getting Republican voters to turn out this November, according to the Associated Press.

“We have to make it too big to rig,” she said.

She urged voters to vote early — including by mail-in voting, a method that the former president had opposed for years. Trump had previously blamed the practice for election fraud, and encouraged voters to instead vote in person — despite routinely using early voting. However, the former president has since backtracked on his previous stance, at the behest of advisers close to the former president and external groups.

Back when Lara Trump became the RNC’s co-chair, the RNC saw shifts in staffing and an increase in fundraising.

The convention also kicked off a conversation with the former president — over a speaker phone call, his son Eric dialed him on stage.

“I just want to thank all of the people of North Carolina. The support has been great and never wavered,” Trump said during her keynote address.

Other speakers that are scheduled to speak at the Greensboro convention over the weekend include former Republican Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and North Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson.
