LaRose ahead of Republicans in race against Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, poll finds.
A New Poll Shows Frank LaRose Leading in Ohio Senate Race
A recent poll conducted by Causeway Solutions and funded by Leadership for Ohio Fund, a pro-LaRose group, reveals that Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is leading the Republican field in the Ohio Senate race. The poll, obtained by the Washington Examiner, surveyed 473 registered Republican voters.
Key Findings of the Poll:
- Frank LaRose is favored by 27.9% of respondents.
- Ohio state Sen. Matt Dolan follows with 11.1% support.
- Wealthy Ohio businessman Bernie Moreno trails with 5% support.
- 18% of those polled expressed their preference for another candidate.
- 39.8% of respondents remain undecided.
“Having an ‘R’ beside a name won’t be enough. Brown has proven himself to be a formidable candidate. The GOP needs to put the best candidate forward to avoid squandering their best opportunity to win this seat in nearly 20 years,” the poll memo says. “Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is currently the preferred choice of GOP Primary voters and likely the best candidate to take on Brown in the General Election as well.”
This poll follows a USA Today and Suffolk University poll, which showed LaRose at 18.95%, Dolan at 13.68%, Moreno at 8.95%, and 56.84% of respondents undecided.
It is worth noting that while all three candidates have previously run for statewide office, Frank LaRose is the only one who has emerged victorious. Dolan ran for Senate in 2022 but finished third in the primary, while Moreno dropped out after a private conversation with former President Donald Trump. Currently serving as the secretary of state, LaRose holds a statewide office.
The winner of the Republican Primary will go head-to-head with Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), who has held the seat since 2007. Ohio has shown a Republican trend in recent years, voting for former President Donald Trump in the last two presidential elections. Apart from state Supreme Court justices, Brown has been the sole statewide elected Democrat in Ohio since 2011.
