Investigation into Cocaine Found at White House Concludes Without Identifying Suspect

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have revealed that the U.S. Secret Service informed them in a closed-door briefing that the investigation into the cocaine discovered at the White House has come to an end, with no suspect being identified.

Although the Secret Service has not yet officially confirmed the conclusion of the investigation, Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) stated during a press conference on July 13 that this marks the end of the probe.

“I don’t see it moving forward in any way, shape, or form after this,” she said.

Mace shared that during the closed-door briefing, lawmakers were informed that investigators were unable to determine who brought the cocaine into the West Wing and how long it had been there before its discovery on July 2. The substance was initially classified as an “unknown item” and led to a brief evacuation.

“No one knows how long it was there, or who put it there, and they can’t get to the bottom of it,” Mace explained. She also pointed out that over 500 people visited the White House that weekend, suggesting that the possibility of one of the visitors being responsible for bringing in the cocaine is not unreasonable.

However, Mace expressed frustration at the failure of the investigation to determine the individuals involved and the timeline of events.

“As a member of Congress, this is frustrating. The White House is supposed to be the most secure site with the best law enforcement officers in the world, yet we don’t have any answers,” she added.

While Mace did not name anyone specifically, there has been speculation surrounding President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, who has openly discussed his past addiction to crack cocaine.

When asked if the House Oversight Committee might take up the matter, Mace stated that it is unlikely due to other ongoing investigations that lawmakers are currently focused on.

Republicans in Congress have initiated several investigations into the Biden administration, including one examining the collaboration between government agencies and Big Tech companies to censor Americans’ constitutionally protected free speech.

‘Pretty Good Diversion’

Other lawmakers who spoke to reporters after the Secret Service briefing shared similar accounts to Mace’s.

“They told us they don’t know who it is,” said Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) during a press conference on Capitol Hill.

Burchett expressed disbelief that the Secret Service could not identify a suspect given the extensive security technology and thorough visitor screening protocols in place at the White House.

“It’s a complete failure,” Burchett continued. “This thing is ridiculous.”

When asked for specific details from the briefing, Burchett mentioned that lawmakers were informed that the amount of cocaine found was “less than a gram.”

“It’s a pretty good diversion. A lot of people are upset about it,” he added. “I think they’re thumbing their nose at the American public right now, like this administration has had a habit of doing.”

Burchett stated that a formal announcement regarding the investigation’s conclusions is expected on Friday.

The Secret Service has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Secret Service Refuses to Release Records

This development comes after the Secret Service announced that it would not comply with a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for records related to the White House cocaine incident, citing potential interference with the ongoing investigation.

In a letter dated July 11, the Secret Service informed Bloomberg Business investigative reporter Jason Leopold that it would not fulfill his FOIA request, which sought information such as emails, text messages, memos, intelligence bulletins, and more.
