Leaked documents reportedly show Russia almost shot down UK’s plane near Crimea

Leaked documents appear to show that a Russian fighter jet nearly shot down a British aircraft last year off the coast of Russian-occupied Crimea.

One of the Russian helicopters approached the British surveillance aircraft within 15 metres on September 29, 2022, but contrary to what the leaked files claim, the incident was not a” near-shoot down.”

If the sheet had been shot down, the United Kingdom might have invoked post five of the NATO agreement, which would have urged other NATO nations, including the U.S., to support the UK. Such a move may put the United States directly at war with Russia.

The United States and the United Kingdom have refrained from engaging in direct combat with Russia during the War in Ukraine, but they have provided Ukraine with aid and support in the form of direct assistance.

Information that were leaked in recent days revealed that the US had been successful in alerting Russian forces to several Russian strikes throughout the war. According to a Pentagon record that was leaked, the United States had accessed Russian intelligence and security solutions.

The articles do not list resources or procedures, but both the Justice Department and the Department of Defense have stated that they are looking into the leaks.
