Leaked Trump call with RFK Jr. sparks panic in Kennedy campaign – Washington Examiner
The article discusses a leaked phone call between former President Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., where Trump discussed his views on childhood vaccines. Kennedy’s son shared a video of the call on social media, causing panic in Kennedy’s presidential campaign. The video showed Trump expressing his beliefs about vaccines, and there were discussions about a potential alliance between Kennedy and Trump. The incident has raised questions about Kennedy’s stance on vaccines and his future in the campaign.
Trump call with RFK Jr. leaks and causes panic in Kennedy campaign
Former President Donald Trump’s phone call to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was leaked by his son, causing the presidential candidate to say he was “mortified” that a video of the call was posted, which was then later deleted.
Kennedy posted on X: “When President Trump called me I was taping with an in-house videographer. I should have ordered the videographer to stop recording immediately. I am mortified that this was posted. I apologize to the president.
Kennedy’s son, Bobby Kennedy III, cryptically said he “removed last one for mistaking sarcasm for real life.” In his original post, he said that he’s “a firm believer that these sorts of conversations should be had in public” and that the conversation was about “Trump giving his real opinion to my dad about vaccinating kids.”
In the video, Kennedy Jr. is seen listening to Trump talk about vaccines on the phone, saying he wants “to do small doses” for children’s vaccines to prevent babies from changing “radically.” The older Kennedy is known to be skeptical of vaccines as well.
Later in the call, Trump says: “I would love you to do so. I think it would be so good for you and so big for you, and we’re going to win.” Kennedy Jr. replies, “Yeah,” as Trump says, “We’re way ahead of the guy.”
It’s unknown specifically what they were talking about, but there were rumors that Kennedy Jr. and Trump could have formed a unity ticket before the former president chose Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his running mate. It’s possible, though, that Kennedy Jr. could drop out and endorse Trump, especially if he’s promised a spot in his Cabinet.
Trump’s comments will likely fuel speculation as the candidates appeared to grow closer as the former president called for Kennedy Jr. to receive Secret Service protection, something he had lacked since becoming a candidate — a request that was then granted by President Joe Biden.
Trump then talks about how someone called him and asked him why he moved his head to the right, and the former president explained he was viewing a chart on immigration. He then talked about the bullet hitting his ear, saying it sounded like “the world’s largest mosquito.”
The clip finishes with Trump saying, “What do they call that, an AR-15 or something? That was a big gun. Those are pretty tough guns,” referencing the shooter’s weapon.

The older Kennedy acknowledged his meeting with Trump on Monday, saying the topic was on national unity but that he was “not dropping out of the race.” It’s unknown if that was a separate meeting from the call.
The Washington Examiner reached out to the Trump and Kennedy campaigns but did not receive a response.
