Incoming White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed rumors that the last-minute changes to President-elect Donald Trump‘s inauguration had anything to do with safety concerns.
Trump’s inauguration has seen several changes in the days leading up to Monday, as the swearing-in ceremony will now be inside the U.S. Capitol.

Moving the ceremony indoors will limit who can be inside the Capitol. Some have speculated that since Trump survived two assassination attempts against him, the changes could be to thwart further security threats.
“Others have suggested it might be more than just weather the move things indoors. Can you confirm or deny that security is a consideration?” host Bill Hemmer asked on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom Sunday.
“I’ve seen those allegations and those rumors online, they are unequivocally false. As President Trump said in his statement, the inauguration was moved indoors because he wants to protect his supporters. It is going to be frigid tomorrow,” Leavitt explained. “So, President Trump made this call in the best interests of his supporters and its strictly due to weather.”
Leavitt also cited that there was “much that goes into protecting a president on Inauguration Day” and the decision would keep law enforcement personnel from being out in the cold. The law enforcement and security detail includes horses and dogs.
