Lee Greenwood adamant US is still ‘country of faith’ ahead of Trump inauguration

Country musician Lee Greenwood argued that the United States is still a “country of faith” in 2025, citing a need for its citizens to know its founding documents, such as the Constitution

Greenwood, best known for his iconic song “God Bless the USA,” told the Washington Examiner about his plans to partake in President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration celebrations, saying he was proud of Trump describing himself as “a man of faith.” Greenwood was referring to Trump’s endorsement of the God Bless the USA Bible last year, with Trump stating in a video that religion and Christianity are “the biggest things missing” in the U.S. and making a call to “bring them back.”

“I think the United States is still a country of faith, and when he just said, ‘This is the Bible I like, and I like Lee Greenwood for it,’ then it made me proud,” Greenwood said.

Greenwood said the creation of the God Bless the USA Bible came from his enjoyment of U.S. history in school. He added that it is important to support the documents that founded the U.S. and cited his Christian faith as his reasoning for releasing a Bible that also carries the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

Greenwood is set to perform at “as many events” celebrating Trump’s inauguration as he can, including the inauguration itself and his rally at Capital One Arena the day before. During these celebrations, Greenwood will perform “God Bless the USA” alongside the United States Marine Corps band, which he said would be a “particularly majestic” rendition of his song.

Going forward, Greenwood is set to make multiple tour stops in 2025, one of which will be with Kid Rock and Nickelback during the “Rock the Country” tour happening across this spring and summer. Greenwood’s performance in Little Rock, Arkansas, set for June 21, is his only scheduled stop on the tour.
