Leftist Chicago Mayor-Elect After Teenagers’ Violent Rampage Through City: Don’t ‘Demonize’ Them

Communist Chicago mayor-elect Brandon Johnson said on Sunday that people don’t” demonize” the youth after they engaged in a violent spree in downtown Chicago on Saturday night, which resulted in the shooting of two individuals.

The violent engagement, which included torching cars, getting into a big fight, and attempting to break police barricades, involved more than 100 teens. 15 people were detained, and two teen boys, ages 16 and 17, were shot.

However, Johnson, the city’s’s newly elected mayor, lectured the teenagers’ detractors, saying he did not” condone the destructive activity we saw in the Loop and the lakefront this weekend ,” but adding that it is not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been denied opportunities in their own communities.

To ensure that every area of our city remains both welcome for residents and visitors, he continued,” our city must work together to create areas for youngsters to gather safely and responsibly, under child support and control.” He said this was a part of his” comprehensive approach to improve public health and make Chicago livable for folks.”

15 people were detained in number, including nine adults and six kids.

Johnson received harsh criticism for his speech from detractors.

One person remarked,” You couldn’t even get past the first article without excuseing the protestors.”

” Because they are not being held accountable, they may experience more of the turmoil and looting.” It is the society’s’s wrong, so people are free to act however they please. Sorrow on the irrationally awake administration, another person added.

” Your lenient behavior will result in an increase in violence and fatalities. Chicago may go bankrupt due to you. Move up. Another person echoed,” Residents deserve to live in a safe place.

Johnson promised to” work with authorities and first responders to invest in community-based interventions that de-escalate conflict, reduced violence, and make our districts safer” on his campaign website when he ran for president against Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas. Johnson previously served as Cook County Commissioner. Vallas pledged to increase the number of sworn officers and regarded public health as a” basic human right” on his website.

In the midst of government evacuations for opposing the restart of remote learning, Johnson received support from the Chicago Teachers Union, while Vallas received the same support.
