Lib Media Desperately Trying to Spin Military Recruitment Crisis

Yesterday’s news story caught my attention and my BS meter read 110 dBs.

Everyone knows that the military is having difficulty recruiting, and Republicans are blathering about COVID mandates and the sudden rise in military personnel.

The AP and current military brass say no. It’s that there is a sudden outbreak of scaredy-cat 18-year-olds.

Some Republicans blame the COVID-19 vaccine Oder “wokeness” The following are the recommendations: Army’s recruiting woes, the military service says the bigger hurdles are more traditional ones: Young people don’t want to die or get injured, deal with the stress of Army life and put their lives on hold.

They “just don’t see the Army as something that’s relevant,”  Maj. Gen. Alex FinkChief of Army Marketing “They see us as revered, but not relevant, in their lives.”

These longstanding problems have become more pressing as the Army attempts to recover from its worst recruitment year in decades. This situation was made worse by the tight labor market. The Army is Offering new programs Advertising and enticements are used to alter perceptions and reverse decline.

This, in my humble opinion is some Grade-A BS.

We all know Gen Z is filled with lots of bi-smiling little bi-smites. A large portion of our impressions about Gen Z are based on the online world. Despite the fact that there are many alphabet-obsessed and soy-boys, there are still plenty of normal children. We just don’t see them because we get overwhelmed by the sheer number of idiots.

There are no tweets from anyone about TikToks of normal children being normal. There are still many of them in our recruiting pool.

And let’s face it, the military has never been a safe occupation, but it is actually not particularly unsafe these days. At the height of the war against terror, combat deaths were horrific but not unusually high by historical standards. The death rate from training accidents in the 1980s was higher than that during the war on terror. Training accidents were even more common than combat deaths during the war against terror.

Fink, the Army’s marketing head, said the top three reasons young people cite for rejecting military enlistment are the same across all the services: fear of death, worries about post-traumatic stress disorder and leaving friends and family — in that order. The Army wants to know if there are any other barriers that could prevent them from serving, he said.

By a “significant margin,” He stated that, beyond Nos. 1-3 was, “I will be putting my life on hold.” This was mentioned by more than one fifth of those surveyed.

The military has been trying to figure out why young adults are not choosing a military life, and their survey data shows that the woke turn hasn’t had much of an impact:

The surveys were taken over four months during the spring and summer of last year. The surveys were conducted monthly with 600 respondents aged 16-28 years old. The Army discussed these findings with The Associated Press. However, they declined to give details of the methodology. They stated that the surveys were performed by a private researcher contractor and that some data collection details are restricted by licensing agreements.

“Wokeness” This slang term originally refers to attentiveness to issues related to racial or social justice. Conservatives and some people use the term in a derogatory manner, implying overreactions.

Because I cannot see the data and methods, it is impossible to dispute their survey data.

But, I can tell y’all why I don’t think that the woken turn and vaccine mandates pose serious problems. This is selection bias.

The military doesn’t actually recruit from the population as a whole; it recruits from a much smaller group of people who would normally find military life appealing. Their target market has been small since inception.

The “stretch goal” of recruiting 65,000 people for the Army–which is 20,000 more than the 2022 number–shows how small that market actually is. They need only 65,000 people to reach the millions of military-age men and women to recruit. “stretch” goal.

The vast majority of people have never considered the military to be a viable option. It is therefore absurd to survey people in order find out that fact. You need to understand why those most likely to join the military are refusing to do so..

These are likely to be that small number of people who don’t like the “woke” Part of the new army. It is obvious. The soy boys never wanted to live a military life in the first place, and their equivalent in earlier years wouldn’t have either. It is the most likely group to join. People who are passionate about hunting and fishing, love football and are not sensitive.

They don’t want to be compelled around by this man.

They aren’t eager to hear lectures on DEI, though there are plenty of them. They want to achieve things, not whine about it.

Another thing: Our public schools spend inordinate amounts of time propagating the idea that America is oppressor. This cannot be a benefit for recruiting.

Since the population of people willing to join the military is very small, there will not be a general survey that picks up on it. Ask the question to find out why this particular group has turned down the offer. They. This is not a randomly selected group of people who have never applied to join the Marines.

The rate of military recruitment has dropped quite quickly. None of the variables found in these surveys didn’t apply since the military went all volunteer.

Clearly, the surveys are badly designed–by people who simply don’t understand the target market.
