LIHEAP utility payment assistance application closing soon. Apply now!

Applications for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program in Georgia Closing Soon!

Don’t miss out on your chance to receive financial assistance for your utility bills! The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is here to help hard-pressed citizens in Georgia. LIHEAP provides support for impoverished households, offering assistance with home energy bills, energy crises, and even minor energy-related home repairs.

Operated autonomously by each state, LIHEAP is funded by the federal government. In Georgia, the Division of Family and Children Services is currently accepting applications for the program until June 30.

Ensuring Access for All

“The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is committed to ensuring that persons with low income, especially those who are senior citizens or are medically homebound, have meaningful access to all programs and activities conducted or supported by local Community Action Agencies (CAA),” the website reads.

To be eligible for LIHEAP, applicants must be U.S. citizens, have a gross annual household income at least 60% below the state’s median income, and be responsible for paying their home’s energy bills.

However, please note that due to limited funding, only a limited number of applicants will be accepted. On average, LIHEAP benefits reach about 20% of those eligible. Once the funds run out, no further assistance can be provided until Congress authorizes a new package.

It’s important to remember that LIHEAP payments only cover heating and cooling costs. Other household expenses, such as water or sewage bills, are not included.

Don’t miss this opportunity to receive the support you need. Apply for LIHEAP today!
