LIHEAP utility payments: Energy bill assistance payments coming in 14 days.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program Payments Arriving Soon for Arkansas Residents

Attention Arkansas residents! The highly anticipated Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) payments will be arriving in just 14 days for those who have applied and been approved. This is fantastic news for low-income individuals and families who are in need of financial assistance to cover their energy bills.

Financial Assistance Starting July 10

Starting from July 10, eligible beneficiaries can expect to receive much-needed financial assistance from LIHEAP. These payments will be made either through direct deposit or by check, providing a convenient and accessible way to receive the support they need.

Over a Dozen Counties to Receive Payments

Great news for residents of over a dozen counties in Arkansas! The Central Arkansas Development Council has announced that these counties will be issued LIHEAP payments for the summer. The counties include Calhoun, Clark, Columbia, Dallas, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Lonoke, Miller, Montgomery, Nevada, Ouachita, Pike, Pulaski, Saline, Sevier, and Union. If you reside in any of these counties, get ready to receive the financial support you deserve.

During the summer season, cooling costs can make up more than 55% of an average customer’s electric bill, as stated by Entergy Arkansas, a leading energy company in the Delta area. This highlights the importance of LIHEAP in providing relief and assistance to those struggling to keep up with their energy expenses.

The amount of assistance received through LIHEAP depends on various factors, such as the number of people in a household, household income, and the size of the cooling bill. Residents can receive a maximum relief amount of $475 for cooling, while the minimum payment is $48. For detailed information on monthly income limits, refer to the CADC chart.

Arkansas LIHEAP offers two options for benefit payments. The regular benefit is a fixed amount based on household size and income, while the crisis benefit is available for those facing financial hardships and in need of assistance to keep their power on. The maximum crisis amount for the summer is $2,000, according to the LIHEAP Clearinghouse in contract with the Department of Health and Human Services.

To apply for LIHEAP, households must file through the organization operating within their county. The deadline to apply is September 30, 2023. For additional application information, visit the CADC website.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to receive the support you need. Apply for LIHEAP today and ensure your energy bills are taken care of.
