Lindsey Graham Bemoans Trump’s Attacks On DeSantis
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) expressed his disapproval of former President Donald Trump’s recent attacks on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is also a potential presidential candidate for the 2024 election. Despite endorsing Trump’s third campaign for the presidency, Graham admitted during a Fox News appearance that Trump doesn’t follow Ronald Reagan’s “eleventh commandment” of not speaking ill of another Republican.
Trump has been increasingly critical of DeSantis, even resorting to mocking nicknames such as “Ron DeSanctimonious.” However, DeSantis struck back at Trump recently after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg investigated hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels that may lead to an indictment against the former president.
Graham and Trump have had a rocky past stemming from their rivalry in the 2016 primary contest. Despite this, Graham has established himself as an ally of Trump in Congress who still disagrees with the former president on occasion.
In response to Trump’s attacks on DeSantis, Graham stated that if Trump were to run for the presidency, he should focus on the positive aspects of his presidency and highlight DeSantis’s talent as a governor. However, he also admitted that this is unlikely to happen.
