Speaking on Fox news, she explained that passing a budget reconciliation bill is essential for enabling further negotiations in committees, which will address various priorities of the representatives. McClain emphasized that the process reflects the essence of democracy, as lawmakers advocate for the interests of their districts. The deadline for this budget reconciliation is March 14, and although some Democratic lawmakers may oppose the bill, McClain believes House Republicans will successfully advance their agenda to benefit the American people. She noted that the current slim Republican majority requires them to navigate internal disagreements on spending and tax priorities among their ranks.

Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) dismissed any concerns that Congress will not be able to agree on federal spending, and thus spark a government shutdown.
A budget reconciliation bill must be passed in Congress by March 14, which is the deadline stemming from the last continuing resolution. This comes as there are rumblings that Democratic lawmakers will hold out on voting in the Republican’s favor to fund the government and prompt a government shutdown.

“What the budget resolution does is merely unlock the ability for us to go into committees to do budget reconciliation, to make transformational change like the president talked about and implement his full agenda. I’m confident that House Republicans will carry through on that agenda — not only for the president but for the American people as well,” McClain said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures.
“Are you worried that some of your members will not vote on a budget reconciliation big, beautiful bill without their priorities in terms of [state and local taxes]? You’ve got some members who want the SALT deduction raised, you’ve got other members who are digging in on coming up with offsets and spending cuts,” host Maria Bartiromo asked.
“That’s the beauty of democracy. That’s why we’re going to go into committees, we’re going to hash these priorities out,” McClain said. “And that’s exactly what the representatives are supposed to do — is fight for their districts and fight for their priorities to get to a better place for the American people. And that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) last continuing resolution was supported by all Democratic lawmakers. Still, 34 House Republicans and 11 senators voted against the legislation.
Republican lawmakers have a slim majority in the House with 218 versus 215 Democratic lawmakers. President Donald Trump has poached former Rep. Mike Waltz to be his national security advisor and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) to be his U.N. ambassador, which makes the majority even slimmer. As a result, Stefanik hasn’t been confirmed as Congress waits to vote on the federal budget.
