The Department of Energy’s Electric Vehicle Road Trip Turns into a Comedy of Errors
The Department of Energy recently embarked on a road trip to showcase the benefits of electric vehicles. However, things didn’t go as planned, resulting in a series of mishaps that even led to the police being called on Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm’s team.
The Journey
The Daily Wire’s Daniel Chaitin reported that Granholm and her entourage set out on a journey from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Memphis, Tennessee, with town hall events along the way. NPR’s Camila Domonoske joined the crew and shared her report about the experience.
A Bumpy Ride
The purpose of the trip was to draw attention to the White House’s investments in green energy and clean cars. However, Domonoske’s report revealed that the four-day venture was far from smooth. The Energy Department staff encountered a major hurdle when they arrived in Grovetown, Georgia, where they had planned to quickly charge their fleet of electric vehicles. Unfortunately, there weren’t enough charging spots available.
Desperate to find a solution, they resorted to using a gas-powered vehicle to occupy a charging space, much to the annoyance of another driver waiting to charge her electric vehicle. Frustrated by the situation, she called the police to report the violation.

The incident highlighted the challenges and frustrations that come with owning and operating electric vehicles, as well as the questionable actions of some individuals in the Biden administration.

It’s clear that this road trip, intended as a photo-op to promote electric vehicles, ended up exposing some of the difficulties associated with them. It also shed light on the behavior of certain “public servants” within the Biden administration.
