NTD’s classical Chinese dance competition is part of a series of international cultural and arts events aimed at promoting traditional culture. Unfortunately, in China, this rich heritage has been nearly eradicated by the Chinese Communist Party over the past several decades.
Classical Chinese dance training encompasses three main components: bearing, form, and techniques. This expressive dance form is deeply rooted in 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and is considered one of the most comprehensive dance systems in the world.
NTD’s classical Chinese dance competition aims to usher in a new era for this ancient art form by fostering cultural exchange and bringing global recognition to this purely authentic traditional dance that embodies purity, goodness, and beauty.
Discover the highest standard of dance form—“shen dai shou” (the body leads the hands) and “kua dai tui” (the hips lead the legs)—forgotten ancient techniques that every dancer has been seeking. These techniques have been reintroduced to the world by Shen Yun Performing Arts‘ founder and artistic director, Mr. D.F.
Join us in witnessing the revival of these lost ancient techniques and experiencing the highest realm of classical Chinese dance.
Mark your calendars for the finals on this page at 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 10.
