Lori Lightfoot Dances Blissfully in Chicago as Crime Soars 61%

Lightfoot, who faces an uphill Democratic primary battle with several opponents, was seen dancing at the city’s Lunar New Year parade on Sunday.
Twitter user replied to the video by saying: “Since [Lightfoot] ‘s term began, Chicago has suffered 2,278 homicides and over 9,000 shot. Since January 1, the city has endured 41 homicides and 194 shot. Yet here Lightfoot is blissfully dancing and asking voters to return her to office. Lightfoot is detached from reality.”

As crimes continue to hit unprecedented levels, with 61 percent in the first four weeks of 2023 from the same period last year, Lightfoot has overseen vacancy rates of almost 30 percent as flagship stores fled the city.
Well-known brands like Macy’s, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Gap, Uniqlo, and Timberland have all left Chicago under Lightfoot.
As The Daily Fetched reported last year, Lightfoot scolded McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski after he warned about the rising crime in the city, telling him he needs to “educate himself.”
“I think what would have been helpful is for the McDonald’s CEO to educate himself before he spoke,” the Chicago Democrat said.
Kempczinski said that the city’s crime is affecting his company’s ability to recruit top talent, and employees have been hesitant to return to work.
He was right. Many businesses have been driven away by soaring crime and violence, and now the vacancy rate on the once tony-shopping strip rising 10-fold between 2016 – when it sat at just 3.6 percent, to the current 30.1 percent vacancy rate, the Daily Mail reported.
