Probationed LA gang member crashes into Uber, tragically kills three.
An Alleged Gang Member Kills Three Women in High-Speed Crash
An alleged gang member, Gregory Black, who was on probation for attempted murder, caused a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two sisters and their friend. The incident occurred when Black crashed into their Uber at speeds of up to 100mph over the weekend, according to the police.
Black, 31, has been charged with three counts of gross vehicular manslaughter for the deaths of Juvelyn Arroyo, Veronica Amezola, and Kimberly Izquierdo. The victims, all in their twenties, were on their way home from a concert when the collision took place.
Los Angeles police investigators have revealed that Black is a known gang member with a lengthy criminal record. At the time of the crash, he was on probation for attempted murder. Witnesses reported that Black was driving a white Mercedes-Benz and was speeding through multiple red lights before colliding with the Uber in a 35 mph zone.
The impact of the crash caused the Uber to spin around five times before coming to a stop. The Uber driver and a passenger in the front seat sustained injuries but survived. Unfortunately, the three women seated in the back did not survive and died at the scene.
The fatal crash occurred near Century Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, just south of downtown Los Angeles. LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno described the scene as resembling the aftermath of a bomb explosion.

Despite the severity of the crash, Black only suffered minor injuries, including a fractured ankle. Detective Moreno revealed that Black has an extensive criminal history, with three felony convictions. Additionally, a loaded gun was found in his car.
Moreno expressed confidence that Black will be sentenced to prison, stating, “This man should never come out and see the light of day.” Investigators are still determining whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
Black is currently in custody at the Los Angeles County jail, with a bail set at $4 million. If convicted, he could face 20 years to life in prison for each of the three gross vehicular manslaughter charges. His court appearance is scheduled for September 5.
The families of the deceased women expressed their grief, stating that the victims were returning from a concert when the tragic accident occurred.
This incident raises concerns about the criminal justice system’s handling of repeat offenders. Critics have previously criticized Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon for implementing policies that they believe are lenient on criminals with serious criminal histories.
Last year, two police officers in the Los Angeles area were fatally shot by an alleged gang member who was on probation for an illegal gun charge. The shooter had a history of burglary, car theft, and drug possession, and had allegedly violated probation prior to the incident.
