North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark⁤ Robinson, the leading Republican candidate for ⁢governor, ⁤made a controversial ​statement at a recent ⁤campaign rally. He argued that‌ transgender individuals ‍should ⁣face legal ⁣consequences​ if they ⁢use restrooms ‍that ‌do not align with their assigned⁤ sex ​at birth.

The Washington Post was the ‍first to ‍report on Robinson’s assertion regarding transgender people,​ specifically ‌biological men⁤ who identify as transgender women, in a‌ rally video.
