Lululemon workers fired for calling cops on thieves.
Atlanta-Area Women Fired for Reporting Robbery at Lululemon Store
Former assistant manager Jennifer Ferguson and former employee Rachel Rogers were fired from their jobs at a Lululemon store in Atlanta after reporting a robbery. According to WXIA-TV, the women saw masked men enter the store and steal products before running out. Despite feeling unprotected and unsure of what to do, the store’s policy is to let thieves steal and then scan a QR code to record the loss. Employees are instructed not to call the police.

Despite the suspects being arrested on felony robbery charges, Ferguson and Rogers were fired for violating the store’s zero-tolerance policy. The policy prohibits employees from physically taking on a thief or chasing them. The women were also told not to call the police and to scan a QR code instead.
Employees Speak Out Against Lululemon’s Policy
Ferguson and Rogers hope to change the policy, which they believe puts employees’ lives at risk. They were terminated without severance or financial consideration. Ferguson’s husband, Jason, posted a video on Facebook showing the robbers being confronted and followed at a distance. He praised his wife and the other employee for their bravery and honesty and criticized Lululemon for not taking action to keep employees safe.
Consequences of Allowing Theft to Go Unchallenged
Ferguson warned of the ripple effects of allowing theft to go unchallenged, including citizens being afraid to go to certain areas because the police are not called. He urged citizens to stand up against criminal activity and criticized Lululemon for not doing right by its employees.
Lululemon’s Response
A representative of Lululemon stated that the company’s handbook spells out its zero-tolerance policy on physically taking on a thief or chasing them. The policy also instructs employees to call 911 immediately after the suspects have left the store.
