Maddow Warns SCOTUS: Rule Our Way Or Americans Won’t Respect Rule Of Law
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow warned Wednesday that Americans will lose respect for the rule of law if the Supreme Court‘s “new conservative supermajority” goes against leftist positions on election results, affirmative action, LGBTQ issues, and voting rights.
It was a pending Alabama redistricting case which set the cable news host off. Supreme Court observers believe justices are poised to uphold a state Congressional map that was challenged under the Voting Rights Act as minimizing black representation in the House of Representatives.
“And if you think that is too radical a thing to imagine them doing — I mean, this is the court that just overruled Roe v Wade, right?” Maddow said.
Maddow cited polling that shows fewer Americans trust the high court, and said she believes the conservative justices she disagrees with on key issues are the reason.
“If the perception of the court keeps dropping like that, you might think the court would start to get worried that Americans soon just won’t respect the court enough to follow its rulings anymore,” Maddow said. “Which of course would be a disaster for the country. That would literally be the end of the rule of law in a very fundamental way.”
Maddow called on liberals to get out the vote in the upcoming midterm elections, in which Democrats appear headed for major defeats. Should the currently deadlocked Senate flip to Republican control, President Joe Biden’s effort to reshape the judiciary, let alone get a Supreme Court justice confirmed should an opening arise, would likely be doomed.
“Whether you are volunteering for a candidate that’s running this year or maybe you’re running for office yourself or you’re volunteering as a poll worker or you’re door-knocking for the latest good-government pro-democracy initiative that’s on the ballot where you live, whatever you are doing right now, particularly over the next six weeks, you are part of what will decide what happens next in our country,” she said. “The outcome is not at all certain at this point; we are in the middle of all of it.”

Maddow’s attack on the Supreme Court for its opinions that do not jibe with her political views is consistent with at least one legal jurist’s opinion of her bias.
“Maddow does not keep her political views a secret, and therefore, audiences could expect her to use subjective language that comports with her political opinions,” U.S. District Judge Cynthia Bashant wrote in a court case involving Maddow and OANN.
" Conservative News Daily does not always share or support the views and opinions expressed here; they are just those of the writer."
