MAGA Super PAC accuses DeSantis of running a “shadow presidential campaign”

Donald Trump super-PAC, Make America Great Again Inc. filed a 15-page ethics complaint Governor Ron DeSantis is being held responsible for what they call a “sinister” operation. “shadow presidential campaign.”

DeSantis (Republican from Florida) is expected to run a 2024 presidential campaign in the coming months. Sources claim that the MAGA super PAC requested the Florida Commission on Ethics investigate DeSantis’s violation of Florida election laws.   

The ethics complaint, which was 15 pages long, contained allegations about the shadow campaigning of Florida Governors.

“Governor DeSantis knows, or should know, that his shadow presidential campaign is illegal under federal election law, Florida ethics laws prohibiting illegal gifts from political committees, and Florida ethics laws prohibiting illegal lobbying payments,” According to the ethics probe.

The whole case of the super PAC has been put on the ethics commission’s interpretation Florida’s. “resign-to-run” law.  The law has required officeholders seeking a new office to resign from their current post if the time of service for the two offices overlap.

“[DeSantis has] abused his office and abdicated his official duties in favor of pursuing his national political interests,” According to the official complaint.

It’s been reported that DeSantis appointed five of the nine members of the Florida ethics commission, including the commission chairman, Glenton Gilzean.

Ron DeSantis has not answered any questions about a potential 2024 presidential run. Despite not revealing his plans, Trump and his super PAC have not ceased to launch a massive attack.

At a Trump rally in Iowa, Trump took the opportunity for some new nicknames to be used by DeSantis. “DeSanctis” “DeSanctimonious.”

“Adding this to the list of frivolous and politically motivated attacks, it’s inappropriate to use state ethics for partisan purposes,” Taryn Feenske, DeSantis communications director, said:

Sources say that DeSantis planned to delay announcing his candidacy for the White House until after May’s Florida Legislature session ends.
